On second thought, though, maybe that's a good thing. The electronic nannies kick in an awful lot in Auto mode. There's a custom setting where you can tailor the throttle, transmission, steering and traction control to your liking across three different settings. That said, even when the traction control is "off," it's never fully disabled. Here I am, in a dry river bed that's perfect for throwing up some huge dirt roosts, and I can't get the Defender to break loose and play.

The Pirate Bay: This awesome site is the big daddy of torrents. It has a simple interface, little to no advertisements and a large number of the torrent material. The content here has been trusted for a long time and it is the number one choice for many and hopefully in days to come.

On the other hand, Fujifilm moved the Quick Menu button to the surface of that curve but flattened it so it's difficult to feel on the fly -- and almost impossible to feel with gloves on. And, as usual for Fujifilm, the metering ("Photometry") setting is buried in the menus, which is a pain for those of us who use it, though you can add it to the custom menus for faster access.

iPads aren't things most people circle as a must-upgrade. They get one, live with them for years, kick them around to their kids, use them as a spare screen. That's the best compliment to the success of the iPad as what it was always intended to be: an easy, perfectly browsable tablet.

Editors' note: Apple's iPad strategy for 2019 was weird, with no new iPad Pro, but updates to the iPad Mini and iPad Air. The 10.2-inch iPad, however, might be the best bet. It has an older A10 processor, original Pencil support and a smart connector for smart keyboard (sold separately), and a slightly bigger screen. Spending as little as possible for an iPad makes a lot of sense right now, unless you have needs (or desires) that justify a fancier model. You could always look for last year's model on sale (which has the same processor, and also supports Pencil), but there's a case for the slight improvements here if you want to pay up for Apple's keyboard case. And, yes, iPadOS 13 generally runs just fine (except for the perpetual bugs, of course). As the dust settles on this year's iPad crop, this entry model is our Editors' Choice.

Unfortunately, no matter which engine you choose, just one transmission is offered: a nine-speed automatic. Ostensibly efficient and easy to fit in smaller vehicles, this gearbox has never really been praised for its smoothness or responsive performance, and in this application it's particularly grim. When taking off from a stop, upshifts in lower gears can be downright harsh, the transmission jerking into the next ratio. Fortunately, once the vehicle is moving, the shifts smooth out considerably, it's just those low gears that are a challenge. 

My test car is also fitted with BMW's Gesture Control, tech that allows you to wave your hand back and forth or twirl your finger in the air to execute select infotainment functions, including dismissing a phone call or cranking up the volume on the $875 16-speaker, 464-watt Harman Kardon audio system. Unfortunately, while this $190 party trick may impress in the short term, I've found it's likely to annoy over the long haul due to serial unintended activation. If you tend to talk with your hands, you might want to give this option the middle finger.

This is the first Dell to use Intel's 10th-gen 10-nanometer processors, up to the quad-core Core i7-1065G7 in my review system. Combined with the integrated Iris Plus graphics, it outperformed similarly configured laptops we've tested with Intel's eighth- and ninth-gen processors. 

Attention was paid to the chassis to deliver better ride quality, and this is a place where engineers succeeded. The Cherokee Limited is quite smooth in most on-road driving situations, plus it feels more refined than you might expect for tiktok fans a vehicle in this segment. Even while traversing war-torn pavement, little harshness invades the cabin. About the only thing I can gripe about regarding the suspension is that traversing a successive series of frost heaves can induce a slight head bobbing in the driver and passengers, but this is a minor complaint. This vehicle's interior is also unexpectedly quiet, even at highway speeds. Roaring wind and tire thrum are scarcely heard.

Welcome to the ever-larger iPad family
Now here's the weird part: Apple has many, many iPads now. Big ones, small ones. Expensive ones, cheap ones. Ones that have Face ID, ones that don't. Ones with Lightning ports and ones with USB-C. Picking through them is kind of a nightmare. For instance: The smaller iPad Mini has a better processor (and costs more). The iPad Pro is fantastic, but for its big cost bump (and with maybe a newer version coming), you probably don't need it. And Apple hasn't yet made it into a full Mac alternative, even with iPadOS' laptop-like advancements.
