Data flow diagram:-

A Data Flow Diagram (DFD) is a graphical representation of the "flow" of data through an information system, modeling its procedure aspects. A DFD is often used as a preliminary step to create an impression of the system, which can afterward be elaborated.DFDs, can also be used for the visualization of data processing

A DFD shows what kind of information will be effort to and output from the system, μ˜ν™” μΆ”μ²œ where the information will come from and leave to, and where the data will be stock up. It does not show information about the timing of procedures, or information about whether procedures will function in sequence or in parallel.

DFDs were regularly used to illustrate data flows in a computer system, although they could in theory be practical to business process modeling. DFD were functional to document the main data flows or to discover a new high-level plan in terms of data flow. It is common practice to draw the context-level data flow diagram primary, which shows the interface between the system and external agents which act as data sources and data sinks. Different notations to illustrate data flow diagrams defining different visual representations for processes, data stores, data flow, and outside entities. Entity-relationship diagrams:-

An entity-relationship model (ER model) is a data model for describing the data or information aspects of a business area or its process supplies, in an abstract way that lends itself to eventually being implemented in a database such as a relational database. The main mechanism of ER models are entities (things) and the relationships that can exist amongst them, and databases.

The three schema approach uses three levels of ER models

Conceptual data model: -

the highest level ER model in that it contains the least granular feature but establishes the overall scope of what is to be included within the model set. Developing an enterprise-wide conceptual ER model is useful to support documenting the data architecture for an organization.

Logical data model: - A logical ER model does not necessitate a conceptual ER model, particularly if the scope of the logical ER model includes only the development of a distinct information system. The logical ER model is however developed independent of technology.

Physical data model: - The physical ER model is normally developed to be instantiated as a database. Therefore, each physical ER model must hold enough detail to make a database and each physical ER model is technology dependent.
